Tim is all about tech. Whether it is dealing with commercial transactions or resolving business disputes, he has the experience you need.
Tim keeps busy within the industry too. He sits as a director and advisor on several tech company boards. He also mentors start-ups and founders.
As a former tech CEO, Tim wanted to create the firm he would have chosen.
Tim is a traveller. He began his career at a national law firm in Calgary, practiced at a “magic circle” firm in the United Kingdom, and served as in-house counsel for a software company in Paris.
Max is a deal enthusiast. He focuses on the start-up, cannabis, hospitality, and fitness sectors, but is all for a deal in any area.
Need to buy or sell a business, negotiate a lease, or deal with a government office? Max will be ready to help. He works the same hours you do, not just 9 to 5.
Max joined us because he shares our passion for business ownership. He is the co-owner of Nemesis Coffee and an emerging cannabis start-up, and enjoys using his experience as both a lawyer and an entrepreneur to help his clients.
Before becoming a lawyer-entrepreneur, Max obtained a master’s in legal philosophy and bioethics. He also spent several years in the hospitality sector working as an executive chef.
Kurt lives and breathes entertainment law. Recognized as a leading mind in the field, his clients range from the smallest indie musicians and film producers to the most successful Juno-winning musicians, record labels, managers, publishers, and tech companies.
Kurt wanted to join a firm that used industry experience to help clients.
He’s also been close friends with Tim since they met in law school, joined the law school band, and subsequently formed a band of their own.
Kurt is a drummer in rock band One Bad Son. They’ve toured the world, released five top ten singles, and played arenas with artists such as the Rolling Stones, Def Leppard, and Shinedown.
In 2019, Canadian Lawyer Magazine recognized Kurt as an industry leader. His articles have been published by Canadian Musician, Vice Magazine, Drum Magazine, and CBC. Among other things, he is the President of SaskMusic.
What matters most to Kurt is his family: his wife Julia, son Levon, and daughter Laurel. When he’s not working, he can be found chasing his kids around the back yard.
Bob is an industry insider. As a JUNO nominated artist, studio owner, music publisher, and author, he knows his stuff.
He enjoys using his experience to help new artists and established industry leaders.
Bob wanted to join a firm that sought out lawyers with field experience. He now feels right at home (we’ve got more than a few musicians).
Bob likes helping. He spent 14 years as the CEO and executive director of Music BC Industry Association, a non-profit dedicated to the development of music and the music industry. This is the tip of his iceberg of industry involvement.
He is currently serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.
